Squid Game Season 2 May Bring One Character Back As A Twin
Teases Creator

Season 1 actor HoYeon Jung may return in Netflix’s forthcoming Squid Game season 2 as Kang Sae-twin,

the book’s according to creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk.

Hwang Dong-Hyuk, the creator of Squid Game, has hinted that a dead character may return as a twin in season 2.

In 2021, Netflix’s biggest success originated from South Korea and revolved around

a tournament in which competitors risk their lives in order to earn a significant quantity of money.

The bulk of the main characters died in the end, but a fan-favorite character may return thanks to a clever workaround.

Squid Game began with 456 people battling for the prize, inspired by South Korea’s love of game shows.

They play what appear to be classic children’s games at first glance, but each one has a terrible twist.

Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae) was named the champion of the current edition of

Squid Game’s terrifying secret tournament after six lethal rounds, not to mention the ever-looming threat from his other players.

Fans were equally engrossed in other characters,

particularly HoYeon Jung’s Kang Sae-byeok, who was one of the game’s final few participants.

Speaking with Deadline during Saturday’s PGA Awards ceremony,

Hwang was asked about any updates regarding Squid Game season 2, which has been officially announced by Netflix, to the delight of fans.

The writer/director stays mum about spoilers and says that there’s a

slim chance that the follow-up will feature any of the dead players.

However, he also teases that he could bring back Jung to play Sae-byeok’s twin.

Jung, who has won awards for her performance and was with Hwang on the red carpet,

laughs about it, suggesting that she could change her looks to come back. Read their answers below:

Jung: I could change my hair color. Let’s do a little like plastic surgery.

Hwang: No, because most of them are dead. I’ll try something to bring them back to Season 2. Let’s say maybe she has a twin sister, you’ll see.

It’s unclear whether Hwang is serious about his remarks, but given Jung’s popularity, it’s not impossible.

Perhaps flashbacks in Squid Game season 2 will provide fresh facts about Sae-byeok.

That would be an excellent method to creatively reintroduce the character in the South Korean program without jeopardizing her death.

Otherwise, the twin path may be an intriguing approach to reintroduce Jung.

For what it’s worth, considering how well-liked her performance was, it’s reasonable to say that fans wouldn’t mind.

Season 2 is unknown, however the Squid Game season 1 ending established a clear narrative route for the sequel.

Gi-hun is likely to go after the VIPs and everyone else involved in the deadly underground rivalry.

In the series’ sophomore year, Hwang did state that there would be new games, which means that there will be a new set of games with new rivals. However, seeing some of the old characters again wouldn’t hurt.
